Teach for the Philippines Week Flipped 2016 Goes Bigger!

January 2016 – Teach for the Philippines Week Flipped (TFP Week Flipped) is a partner event of Teach for the Philippines Week, which took place last September 14-18, 2015. During Teach for the Philippines Week, key leaders in the private and public sectors were invited to guest teach in the organization’s partner schools. Conversely, Flipped strives to bring students on learning trips to world-class educational and professional facilities. The trips create progressive, interactive, learning environments complementary to our day to day work in the classrooms. Through this event, we aim to impart on our public school students a “sense of possibility”. By meeting different kinds of people and seeing different kinds of possibilities, their view of the world expands and their futures made more tangible.

 

TFP Week Flipped ran from January 25-29, 2016. A total of 18 placement schools from our partner LGUs participated in the event. For the greater Manila area, the following partner cities took part in this week-long event:

  • Quezon City (Kamuning Elementary School, Apolonio Samson Elementary School, Commonwealth Elementary School, Rosa Susano Elementary School, West Fairview Elementary School, Pasong Tamo Elementary School, Cubao Elementary School, Bagong Pag-asa Elementary School, Sto. Cristo Elementary School
  • Marikina City (Sto. Nino Elementary School, Malanday Elementary School, H.Bautista Elementary School, Nangka Elementary School)
  • Sta. Rosa, Laguna (Southville IV Elementary School)
  • Mandaluyong City (Nueve de Febrero Elementary School, Highway Hills Integrated School)

 

For the first time, TFP hosted Flipped trips for its regional partner schools in the Mindanao LGUs such as Cagayan de Oro (Fr. William Masterson, SJ Elementary School) and Del Carmen, Siargao (Numancia Central Elementary School).

 

More than 400 students visited government offices such as House of Representatives, City Hall of Cagayan de Oro, Municipal Hall and Rural Health Unit of Del Carmen, Siargao; corporate offices such as Philippine Stock Exchange, Coca-Cola FEMSA Bottling Plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and Bakhaw Hotel in Del Carmen, Siargao; the campuses of Ateneo de Manila University, University of the Philippines-Diliman, De La Salle University-Integrated School, Ingenium School-Marikina, and Mindanao University of Science and Technology; as well as the Shoe Museum, QCX Interactive Museum, Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center, Cultural Center of the Philippines, and the Sayak Airport in Siargao.
